Within each record set there is little organization at all. I just spent some time on a project at NARA and found boxes of completely unorganized documents, tied together with string, that appear to have been untouched since the 1950s.Dave Lynchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05184594177199559729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5717482586742122982.post-80809484900559092932015-06-30T00:49:07.132-04:002015-06-30T00:49:07.132-04:00Slavery was abolished in 1848, the date listed abo...Slavery was abolished in 1848, the date listed above says 1948. Sometimes autocorrect can incorrectly fix things in your document or your fingers can fly across the keyboard so fast, it's easy to hit the wrong key and not notice. I know I am guilty of this. I noticed this error and just wanted to alert you. The blog and project is really nice but I wish the records were more elaborate and chronologically defined. It is hard to find a complete file but something is always better than nothing. Sadly, they converted to Moravian in the mid 1800s and I have a hard time assembling from there. Some of the records are in NARA RG55 for the late 1800s. They may be of help.Dave Lynchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05184594177199559729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5717482586742122982.post-70970289697905412602013-10-26T11:54:41.271-04:002013-10-26T11:54:41.271-04:00We need for the Methodist, Moravian and Catholic C...We need for the Methodist, Moravian and Catholic Churches to put their records on line. The churches in the Virgin Islands have a wealth of information about the people who have lived there. The Virgin Islands Government also need to cooperate in sharing their information on births, marriages, and deaths. The Social Security Death Index used to be a great source of information about our relatives who have died. Now they have stopped being of assistance in documenting the lives of our ancestors.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
